About the Owners
The story of The Martinsburg begins far from Texas. Clemens and Audrey Winner, both born in Germany, lived in different parts of Europe and the U.S. before discovering the Hill Country. They were immediately drawn to its rolling vineyards, big skies, and small-town charm—it felt like home.
In 2020, their search for a place to settle led them to a quiet property in Stonewall. Sixteen acres of wide-open views, lovely wildflowers, birds singing, and beautiful sunsets. It was the kind of place that makes you pause, breathe deeper, and feel grounded. They knew they had found something worth sharing.
With Clemens’s practical business background and Audrey’s eye for design as an architect, they began shaping the land into a boutique retreat designed for rest and connection. The cabins were created to fit naturally into the landscape—modern yet cozy, simple yet thoughtful.
Today, the retreat is not just a getaway but a little piece of their story. Clemens can often be found cycling the country roads, while Audrey loves exploring the old vernacular buildings of the area—and Noah, their dog, enjoys the quiet country life.
Over time, the place has become deeply connected with so many—the incredible people they work with, their lovely guests, and the welcoming Stonewall and Fredericksburg community.
For them, The Martinsburg is about more than cabins and views. It’s about creating a place where visitors can slow down, savor the Hill Country, and leave feeling a little lighter than when they arrived.
